From Fisherman to Chiropractor
I'm Dr. Rod Weiland, a chiropractor with over 35 years of experience. Originally from Ceduna, South Australia, my journey in chiropractic care has taken me across the country and around the world, helping patients achieve better health and mobility. Now, I've returned to my roots in Adelaide, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the community I call home. Before becoming a chiropractor, I had a different path in mind. Growing up in Ceduna, I initially pursued a career as a commercial fisherman, working for many years on a deep sea trawler off the waters of both Ceduna and then Hobart. However, I soon realized that my true passion lay elsewhere. After deciding to change careers, I enrolled at Macquarie University, where I completed my chiropractic degree over 35 years ago. After graduating, I established a practice in Castle Hill, NSW. Over the years, I expanded the clinic into one of the largest multi-disciplinary clinics in Australia, with a team of 12 full-time chiropractors, physiotherapists, and massage therapists. Working in such a dynamic environment taught me the value of collaboration and the importance of providing comprehensive care for my patients. In fact, this focus on team-based care is something that remains central to my practice approach today.

A Collaborative Approach
Having started one of the very first multi-disciplinary clinics in Australia, and having worked in multi-disciplinary teams for many years, I understand the value of collaboration in healthcare. At The Adelaide Disc Center, we are comfortable working closely with other health professionals, including physiotherapists, massage therapists and medical specialists, to provide a well-rounded approach to spinal care. This collaborative effort ensures that our patients receive the most comprehensive care possible, addressing all aspects of their health and well-being.

Our practice is built on a foundation of teamwork and patient-centered care. Since each patient is different, we take the time to comprehend their particular requirements and unique clinical needs. This personalized approach allows us to create treatment plans that are both effective and sustainable, helping patients achieve lasting relief from their spinal issues.
International Sports Chiro
In addition to my work with general patients, I have a special interest in sports chiropractic. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with athletes and teams at the highest levels of competition. My experience includes extensive work with Australian National sporting teams, particularly in the field of ice hockey.
I’ve toured overseas with the Australian National U18, U20, and Men’s Ice Hockey teams for many years, accompanying them to training camps and when the Australian teams competed at the World Championships in Europe. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by elite athletes, particularly in managing fatigue and rapid recovery. My goal has always been to optimize performance and recovery by helping athletes prepare for world championships in Europe, Canada and the USA, as well as working with individual athletes.
